To MOT or not to MOT
During the Covid crisis The Driver and Vehicle Standards Authority (DVSA) changed the legal requirements for an MOT, allowing drivers an ‘MOT grace period’, which extended peoples MOT
by 6 months. The MOT grace period covers vehicles with MOTs that are due to expire between 30 March and 31 July 2020. If you are unsure when your MOT is now due, then use the handy MOT date checker on our website!
If your MOT is due to expire on or after 1 August 2020, then you won’t be covered by the MOT grace period and will need to get your MOT done before your current certificate expires.
Even if your car has been given the MOT extension, it is still your legal responsibility to ensure that the vehicle is roadworthy and safe.
We anticipate a very busy August/September with all the MOTs catching up, so it might just be worth getting ahead of the crowds and booking your August MOT date now to ensure your space.
In the meantime, happy, safe motoring people!
